Marketing Information

Link building:

As you may know one of the most important factors in search engine optimization is links and having other sites point to your own. This is a big factor with all the major search engines that are out there including Google, Yahoo and MSN and is referred to by search engine optimization professionals as link popularity. Due to the fact that search engines are getting smarter and smarter it is difficult to put up a site and expect it to rank well by only having a select few links pointing to your site. Certain factors have to be taken into consideration when you’re considering exchanging links with another website.

Below Rank Promoters has broken down some of things you should look for in a link partner:

Rank Promoters provides you with an easy way to exchange links with several sites at one time without risk of being penalized or banned by any of the major search engines. Site design:

The design of your website is a crucial element to good search engine rankings. It is advised that when you’re building your website you stay away from flash, frames pages, image maps, dynamic JavaScript menus or things of this nature. We also advise that you stay away from dynamic sites that are database driven as even the larger engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN rarely index pages that originate from sites that are database driven. This means that you’re better off using a site that is: example (your-review.html) instead of example (review.php?category=rev&review=you-review).

Research and choose the right keywords:

Choosing the right keywords and using them throughout your optimization is a key factor in how well you end up ranking on the search terms you’re planning on going after. We’d advise that you do your research and figure out the best combination of keywords to optimize for. If you’re planning on optimizing for a single term example: (basketball) we’d advise against this as there are too many results for such as term and way too much competition instead you should optimize for a group of keywords also know in search engine optimization as keyword phrases. By doing so you increase your chances of ranking for your targeted terms much better then if you optimized for a single term. A good tool to use for this is WordTracker™ as they offer stats on search phrases and suggestions for the kind of search phrases to optimize for a great tool which you should take advantage of.

Title tag advice:

Of all the onsite optimization factors one of the most important is your title tag. It is very important that you use the keywords that you’re optimizing for in your title tag. This is one of the onsite elements that search engines use to gauge the relevance of your site in conjunction with the inbound links and other onsite variables to determine how you rank in the search engine result pages. Be sure to use the keyword phrases that you plan on optimizing for here in your title tag. People often times make the mistake of using their website URL name in the title tag. This is ok if you’re URL contain the keywords that you’re going after but if not don’t bother putting it in the title tag unless you absolutely must.

Keywords meta tag advice:

Keywords are only still used by a few of the search engines out there to gauge the category or genre of your website. The majority of the larger search engines we’re assuming that you’re targeting no longer factor in the keywords are a part of their algorithm as it’s too easy just to stuff the keywords and keyword phrases that you’re targeting within this meta tag. We do however recommend that you put it in anyway just for the smaller search engines to pick up on as you may still get some traffic from these search engines.

Description meta tag advice:

The meta description tag is one that you should pay close attention to just like the title tag as it is still very important. Often times people use a very simple description tag without putting any real thought into it and if they start ranking in the search engine results pages they get a description in the index that doesn’t really define what they do all that well. So we advise that you put some time into your description tag and come up with something creative. It’s also very important to keep in mind that you should use your keyword phrases at least two times in you description tag as this is something the Google, Yahoo and MSN search engine robots will pick up on.

The copy and other onsite element advice:

The last bit of advice we have for you is with respect to your onsite copy. Make sure that you use your keyword phrases several times throughout your websites copy but also make sure not to over due it. You should try and keep the keyword phrase density on your page down to between 8 – 12% as this will ensure that your site doesn’t appear to the engines as being one that’s stuffing keywords into the site solely to gain rankings. Additionally use your keywords and keyword phrases in your internal links as well as outbound links as this is one of the factors that search engines take into consideration.
